Bio:
Xiaofeng Tao (FIET, SMIEEE) received his B.S. degree in electrical engineering from Xi’an Jiaotong University, Xi’an, China, in 1993 and the M.S.E.E. and Ph.D. degrees in telecommunication engineering from Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications (BUPT), Beijing, China, in 1999 and 2002, respectively. He is currently a Professor of BUPT and a Director of National Engineering Laboratory. He was the inventor or co-inventor of 80 patents, the author or co-author of 200 papers and 2 books, in wireless communication areas. He was a winner of Chinese National Invention Awards (2008 and 2013) and also a winner of National Science Foundation for Distinguished Young Scholars. Now he focuses on 5G research.
Abstract
Future 5G mobile networks will make non-uniform dense wireless network possible because it will integrate an increasing number of cellular networks and hot spot networks. In this talk, we first introduce a theoretical method based on stochastic geometry to model such non-uniform dense networks. We then show a real testbed that was designed and built for the 5G dense and aggregated network. The measured results indicate that the 5G requirements can be achieved by the aggregation and cooperation techniques.
